Operated by Xolani Tlhapi (Pty) Ltd, CIPC Registration 2020/051330/07. This policy explains how we handle your personal information under POPIA.
1.Who We Are
Kicks & Drip Wash is operated by Xolani Tlhapi (Pty) Ltd, a private company registered in the Republic of South Africa (CIPC Registration 2020/051330/07), trading as Kicks & Drip Wash.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your personal information when you use the Kicks & Drip Wash platform (the “Platform”), in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”).
2.What Personal Information We Collect
Customers: When you use the Platform as a customer, we collect your full name, email address, phone number, and delivery address; your order history and order details; payment reference information (we do not store full card numbers); your device type and IP address for security purposes; your star ratings and reviews; and in-app chat messages between you and assigned drivers.
Drivers: When you register as a driver, we also collect your South African ID number; vehicle registration details and vehicle type; copies of your driver’s licence, PrDP (where applicable), police clearance certificate, and vehicle licence disc; your bank account details for payout purposes; and your GPS location while you are online and assigned to an active job.
Business partners: When you register as a business partner, we also collect your business registration details (CIPC number); your SARS tax compliance PIN; your business bank account details; and your shop’s address and operating information.
3.Why We Collect and Use Your Information
We process your personal information for the following purposes:
- To provide the Platform service — processing orders, dispatching drivers, sending notifications, and processing payments.
- To verify identity and compliance — confirming driver and business documents before activation on the Platform.
- To process payouts — transferring weekly earnings to driver and business bank accounts.
- To improve the Platform — analysing usage patterns to fix bugs and improve features.
- To communicate with you — sending order status updates, support responses, and Platform announcements.
- To comply with the law — meeting our obligations under POPIA, the Consumer Protection Act, and other applicable South African legislation.
4.Who We Share Your Information With
We share your personal information only in the following circumstances:
- With drivers — your name, phone number, and delivery address are shared with your assigned driver only for the duration of your specific order, and only to the extent needed to complete the delivery.
- With service businesses — your name, order details, and special instructions are shared with the Service Business fulfilling your order.
- With payment providers — your payment is processed by our South African payment gateway (Paystack or Yoco). We do not see or store your full card details.
- With Google Maps Platform — your pickup address is used to calculate delivery distance and display maps. This is subject to Google’s privacy policy.
- With Firebase (Google) — push notification tokens are shared with Firebase Cloud Messaging to send you order status notifications.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for marketing purposes. Ever.
5.How Long We Keep Your Information
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active and for a period of 5 years after your last transaction, to meet our legal and tax obligations. Driver and business compliance documents are retained for 7 years in line with SARS requirements. You may request deletion of your account and personal information at any time (see Section 7).
6.How We Protect Your Information
We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), secure database storage on South African or African-region cloud infrastructure, and role-based access controls ensuring that Platform staff can only access the information necessary for their specific role. Driver addresses and customer contact details are not visible to other users outside of an active, assigned order.
7.Your Rights Under POPIA
As a data subject under POPIA, you have the right to: request access to the personal information we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information; request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal retention obligations); object to the processing of your information for direct marketing purposes; and lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe we have breached POPIA.

8.Cookies and Tracking
The Kicks & Drip Wash web platform uses essential cookies to maintain your login session and remember your preferences. We do not use advertising cookies or sell your browsing data to advertisers. You may disable cookies in your browser settings, but this may affect Platform functionality.
9.Children
The Platform is not intended for use by persons under the age of 18 without parental consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without consent, please contact us immediately.
10.Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you via the app or by email at least 7 days before material changes take effect. The current version will always be available at kicksdrip.com/privacy.
